Mother God
How to describe the joy of no longer having to relate to my God as just a “he”, but “she” as well? I can’t. I can only say that I am very thankful that there is a current awareness of the need to address the patriarchal perspective that has suppressed and reduced the value of women. I am so far from a scholar that it is difficult to put into words how deeply nourishing and validating it is to experience God’s feminine dimensions. Again, I am sure I am not expressing this in a very scholarly manner, but to me, God is Spirit, non-gendered, and though we use feminine/masculine language to talk about God, I can rest in my Source, the Ground of all Being, as ALL and more of anything I think or need. I resonate to the Sufi practice of reciting the 99 Divine Names as various aspects of the One, All-Encompassing Love.
